After a heartfelt goodbye to our new friends, T & D, we left Santa Fe yesterday afternoon. We were both sorry to leave, yet happy to be on the road again. Since our departure was much later in the day than we had planned, we decided to do some last minute errands and then spend the night at the Isleta Casino, just a few miles South of Albuquerque. The parking for trucks and RVs was quite a ways from the entrance, so we decided to park closer and then move the rig later. No competition for RV spots in colder climates this time of year.

We got club cards and were told

if we earned 25 pts, we could swipe our cards for chances to win free slot play or a prize. You could win up to, I think, $50 in free play? Anyway, we found a blackjack table and Sam changed up $20. I stood behind and helped him out since he doesn't know all the odds. My mom and dad used to practice on us kids when we were young, preparing for their trip to see Evil Knievel jump the Snake River back in the 70's. We learned the rules, so I pretty much stick to them. After about a half hour of up and down, we left the table when people started playing hunches and causing us to lose. Sam still had his $20, so we were happy. We went to the kiosk and swiped his card.. He had earned enough points and ended up with $20 in free slot play. So, now I had to see what I could do. I found a table that looked ok and sat down, only to lose $12.50 in less than 30 minutes. Oh well, off to the kiosk to swipe my card. I earned enough points too and ended up with $25 in free play. We spent the rest of the evening playing slots with our free money. I cashed out at any opportunity and ended up getting back $8.45 of my $12.50. Sam walked away even, but had enough points to get a dollar off a Starbucks vente in the casino this morning. So, all in all, not an expensive night and it beats the heck out of sitting around in the rig using up propane trying to stay warm.

We took off this morning and headed to San Antonio, NM, where T & D encouraged us to stop for green chili burgers at The Owl. The town was all closed up, not sure if it was just because it was Sunday or because it was Superbowl Sunday, which is practically it's own holiday. Either way, we drove the 3 blocks or so to the end of town (yes, it was that small), did a u-turn and headed back up the road. We decided to find a hot springs in Truth or Consequences, NM, a quirky little artsy

town with not much going on. it used to named Hot Springs, but renamed itself T or C after winning a contest put on by the game show. Silly, really, because we never would have thought it would have so many great little hot springs based on the name.

They are known for their rustic hot springs spas all right in the same area. Sam checked a few out and we settled on the “wet room” at Blackstone. It was a fantastic hour of lounging in a private room with a free-flowing hot spring pool,

steam room with waterfall and it's own shower. I felt very spoiled and so relaxed after. The woman at the desk told us of some BLM land just up the road, so here we are and now I'm going to go pass out. Perfect end to a perfect day.
